I was once intensely skeptical that telehealth could offer good medicine. I was wrong. Initially, I viewed virtual consultations as a poor substitute for in-person visits, doubting the efficacy of remote assessments. However, my experiences over time revealed a different reality.
Telehealth has proven to be a powerful tool in expanding access to care, especially for patients in rural or underserved areas. The convenience of connecting with healthcare providers without the need for travel has significantly improved patient engagement and adherence to treatment plans.
Moreover, telehealth has allowed for more flexible scheduling, accommodating patients' busy lives and reducing missed appointments. I found that many patients felt more comfortable discussing sensitive issues in a virtual setting, leading to more open and honest communication.
Ultimately, my journey with telehealth has not only enhanced my practice but has also deepened my understanding of patient needs. Embracing this technology has made me a better doctor, fostering a more inclusive and responsive healthcare environment.
