Intermed Labs and Vandalia Health advance heart attack response technology to final prototype stage

Intermed Labs and Vandalia Health have moved their next-generation cardiac response system into the final prototype phase. The platform is designed to cut critical delays when a patient suffers a heart attack by securely transmitting live ECG data, ambulance position, and ongoing clinical updates directly to hospital teams before arrival.

The system works by linking emergency medical services with hospital cardiology units in real time. Instead of relying on phone calls or static printouts, paramedics can send a continuous stream of patient vitals and heart rhythm readings. Hospital staff can then prepare the catheterization lab, assign the right specialists, and have a clear picture of the patient's condition before the ambulance even pulls in.

Vandalia Health, which operates several hospitals across the region, has been testing the platform in simulated emergency scenarios. Early feedback shows the tool reduces the time between field assessment and treatment decision by several minutes. For heart attack patients, every minute matters, as blocked arteries cause permanent muscle damage quickly.

Intermed Labs says the final prototype will include a simplified interface for paramedics and a dashboard for hospital command centers. The next step is a live pilot across multiple ambulance units, followed by a broader rollout if results hold up. The companies have not announced a specific launch date, but they expect the pilot to begin within the next few months.
