A new global survey reveals a stark disconnect in the modern workplace: while corporate leaders are overwhelmingly united in prioritizing artificial intelligence, they are failing to equip their employees with the necessary support and infrastructure for successful implementation.
The research indicates that 53% of senior executives rank embedding AI tools into company workflows as a top strategic priority for the coming years. This consensus highlights the technology's perceived critical role in future growth and efficiency. However, the same study identifies a dangerous execution gap, particularly in AI-enabled learning and skills development. Leaders are making pivotal decisions about workforce transformation without the foundational systems to connect skills training to actual performance.
Experts point to an infrastructure deficit as the core issue. "The gap is not intent, but infrastructure," notes one industry president involved in the survey. "Executive teams are making increasingly consequential workforce and AI decisions without systems that reliably connect skills, learning, and performance." This structural risk threatens to undermine the potential benefits of AI, potentially exacerbating existing organizational gaps rather than closing them.
Beyond AI, executives also cite evolving learning strategies and building skills-based talent models as key objectives. Yet the pressing challenge remains bridging the chasm between leadership's technological ambitions and the practical, day-to-day readiness of their teams to adapt and thrive in this new environment.
