Local Medical Laboratory Technology Students Excel in National Competition

LA PLATA, Md. – Students from the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program at the College of Southern Maryland achieved remarkable success in the 2025 Cell Bowl, a prestigious national competition. This event brought together participants from various educational institutions across Maryland and Washington, D.C., with CSM emerging as the top program in the region.
The Cell Bowl challenges students to demonstrate their expertise in hematology by identifying and classifying blood cells within a limited timeframe. Participants must distinguish between normal and abnormal cells, assessing conditions such as cancerous, reactive, or infected cells. The competition not only tests students’ theoretical knowledge but also their practical skills in a high-pressure environment.
CSM's achievement highlights the dedication and hard work of its MLT students and faculty.
