Meridian Community College Opens New Transportation Technology Training Center

Meridian Community College marked a significant milestone Wednesday afternoon with a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new Transportation Technology Training Center. The facility represents a major investment in workforce development and will offer hands-on training across several key automotive fields.

The new training center is designed to prepare students for careers in diesel mechanics, automotive repair, and related transportation technologies. College officials say the facility will give students access to modern equipment and real-world learning environments that mirror what they will encounter on the job.

The program is expected to help meet growing demand from local employers who need skilled technicians. Transportation and logistics businesses in the region have struggled to find qualified workers in recent years, and the college hopes the new center will help close that gap by producing job-ready graduates.

Students enrolled in the program will spend time in both classroom instruction and practical shop work, learning diagnostics, repair procedures, and maintenance techniques for a range of vehicles and heavy equipment. The hands-on approach is intended to ensure that graduates leave with the confidence and skills employers are looking for.

Community leaders and college administrators attended the ceremony and praised the project as an example of how education and industry can work together to strengthen the local economy. The center is expected to begin serving students in the coming term.
