REDLANDS, CA - The West Virginia Department of Transportation has received a major industry award for its work with geographic information systems, or GIS technology. The recognition came from Esri, a leading company in the field of digital mapping and spatial analysis, during a recent conference.

The award highlights how WVDOT has used GIS to improve road maintenance, project planning, and public safety across the state.
