COIMBATORE, India, October 30, 2026--Dr. Krishnan Suthanthiran, founder of Best Medical International, is seeking urgent assistance from Indian government officials and relevant authorities to secure the release of advanced cancer treatment technology that has been held in Indian Customs for more than 18 months. The equipment is intended for a proposed nonprofit cancer treatment center in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, where it could help expand access to advanced radiation therapy for patients who cannot afford expensive cancer care.

Dr. Suthanthiran, an international medical technology entrepreneur, said the prolonged delay is preventing the center from beginning operations and delaying treatment for patients in the region who depend on affordable options. He noted that the equipment has cleared the necessary technical reviews and that the remaining hurdle is administrative clearance from customs authorities.

The proposed facility is designed to serve low income patients who currently travel long distances or forgo treatment because of cost. Supporters of the project said the release of the equipment would allow the center to move forward with installation and staff training.

Dr. Suthanthiran has asked officials at both the state and central levels to intervene and expedite the process. He said the equipment is safe, non operational until installed, and fully documented, and that the delay serves no purpose for either the importer or the patients waiting for care.
